4 Things Your Gynecologist Wants You To Do After Sex

It might be tempting to fall straight to sleep after a hot session but practicing good hygiene after sex will definitely ward off unwanted intruders aka infections.

What happens if you don’t practice hygiene after post-coital? One word: Infection. During sexual intercourse, thrusting can introduce bacteria up the urethra and into the bladder, increasing the risk of yeast infection and Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). That is why it is so important to take certain care actions after sex, as we already know, prevention is better than cure. So here are some tips to take note of, according to gynecologists.

#1 Flush It Out

External compounds like bacteria can enter the urethra very easily during sex, putting you at risk of infection. The best way to flush out those harmful toxins is by urinating, even if you don't have the urge to. If you really have nothing to flush out, drink a glass of water and enjoy a short cuddle session with your partner, then quickly hit the loo.
No pee yet? Well, there are other things you can do first before flushing it out, like washing yourself.

#2 Wash Yourself

A full shower will clean up most of the toxins in the vagina. Avoid using overly hot or cold water, as your little sister will still be tender from your intimate activities. But whatever you do, remember to avoid douching. Douching or the use of feminine washes can actually wipe out all bacteria including the good ones, which can damage the pH level in the long-run.
There are a lot of products that you’ll find in pharmacies that are marketed to help you “stay fresh”. However, these products are usually made with harsh chemicals like perfumes or lotions, which are bad not only for your skin but also your intimate part as well
If you’re planning to have a long cuddle session, you can do a gentle rinse with warm water instead, or use a clean wet towel to wipe it down before diving back for a long cuddle.

#3 Change Into A New Underwear

After that spicy session, remember to change into a new pair of underwear. This is especially important as the body fluids that stain your underwear will develop bacteria. And that's probably something you wouldn't want to wear again. You can choose to toss them right into the laundry basket and pick some fresh new ones to wear or go commando, your choice.

#4 Vaginal Health Supplements

If you're those who definitely want to keep things simple and quick, feminine health supplements are a great option. It not only keeps the lady parts clean but smelling fresh as well. These feminine care supplements usually contain probiotics, which help to regulate an optimal pH level and inhibit the bad bacteria that could cause infections.
