How annoying it is having to cover up your back when there’s so many cute backless tops and dresses to wear during cute brunch dates with your girlfriends, party nights and even bikini season! Though it may be a nuisance, there’s always a cure just like many things in life too.

So, stay put because we have gathered some tips from skincare experts and dermatologist to shoo-away your worry away so you can strut in these cute backless outfits with confidence.

#1 Exfoliate

Just like your face, the back has to be exfoliated regularly as there’s more sebaceous glands than any other part of the body. Hence, the back has more likelihood of developing acne as dirt, sweat and sebum can be trapped easily. So, it’s very important to exfoliate on a regular basis to slough off those dead skin cells before it could even have the chance to form. Here’s some of the most gentle, effective and cheap natural remedies out there:

Exfoliate using:

1. Espom salt is a form of magnesium in which is highly beneficial in the detoxification process.

2. Sugar and ground coffee are able to slough away dead skin on the surface.

However, keep in mind not to over exfoliate as it could do more harm than good by irritating the skin. General rule of thumb is not to exfoliate more than 4 times a week.

#2 Wear loose fitting clothes

We know tight fitting clothes looks really flattering but sad to say it can trap sweat and sebum that may cause irritation and exacerbate acne outbreaks. So, it’s very important to stay away from tight clothing as much as possible to minimize friction especially when sweating.

We understand that certain occasion is unavoidable to wear tight fitting clothes such as working out or a night out so it’s recommended to wear cotton or any material that’s able to absorb sweat from the skin and lighter colors help too!

#3 Having the correct showering steps in your routine & habits

Without doubt, cleansing is super duper important but are you aware that the steps are equally or more crucial?

Here’s why.

Our hair conditions contains ingredients that could clog pores and if it sits directly on our backs, it seeps into the skin (YIKESS!). So the answer to get rid of bacne may be as simple as clipping your hair up and wash the conditioner off before washing your body!

Also, remember to shower right after a workout to prevent clogged pores. We understand that sometimes it’s not convenient to shower right after a gym session so using baby wipes to wipe your back is a great option too but of course, nothing beats a good rinse in the showers!

#4 Using topical anti-acne ingredients in your routine

It’s always an advantage to know acne fighting ingredients to fight body bacne. Here are some ingredients to look out for when choosing your body wash:

Salicylic acid
It is a type of BHA to clean pores by exfoliating deep under the pores to treat breakouts and builds elastic + collagen.

Glycolic Acid
It is a type of AHA to exfoliate skin by removing dead skin cells on the surface by loosening the “glue” that holds dead skin cells. Try ComeMinus® where it contains glycolic acid as well.

Tea tree
It has both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Perfect natural remedy for inflammatory acne lesions like pimples, pustules, cysts and nodules

Sulphur
It works similarly to salicylic acid but it’s much gentler on the skin which absorb excess sebum that could cause breakouts and helps to unclog pores.

Try the Orique’s AcneMinus® Advanced Fast-Acting Spot Treatment where it contains both tea tree, sulfur and other effective ingredients to purify, heal, smooth and prevent acne.

#5 Treating from the inside out

Back acne could be a challenge to treat as the thickness of the dermis on the back compared to everywhere else on your body is the thickest so topical products alone may not be enough.

Hence, it’s best paired with oral supplements. Acne medication from your dermatologist may be the most common option but it has side effects such as antibiotic resistance, flaky skin, chapped lips, hormonal imbalance etc.

Therefore, it’s recommended to take the natural supplements that contains natural anti-fighting ingredients such as Lactoferrin where stops the growth of acne-causing bacteria,  Galactorin which will repair skin and fights inflammation in which PRAVENTAC™ has and LumiCell in which aids the stomach microbiome to reduce IGF-1.
